Pinarc Disability Support is a community not-for-profit organisation providing services to around 1,000 children and adults with disability, their families, and carers across the Grampians Region and Melton.

We provide direct support through therapy services, support coordination, adult day programs, school holiday programs, parent support groups, financial plan management and kindergarten support. All of our service delivery is guided by our vision of building a community in which people with disability are equal and valued.

We are seeking enthusiastic and fun-loving volunteers to add value to our day programs at any of our Ballarat centres, based at Golden Point and Pennyweight.

If you volunteered in a program at Pinarc in the past month, here’s what your day might have looked like.

• Attended a morning briefing with the staff and coordinators planning out what the day will look like

• Assisted with the preparation and packing up of activities for our customers to participate in

• Interacted with the customers in a respectful and courteous manner

• Assisted the support workers in facilitating some of the activities

• Helped to tidy and clean up after meal times

You can participate in sessions including:

• Music- singing and playing instruments

• Arts and crafts -Sewing; knitting, crochet etc.

• Cooking/ baking -assist customers in the kitchen to follow recipes, prepare meals and food preparation under the guidance of the support worker

• Gardening and incorporating our produce into our cooking activities

• Physical activity -motivating our customers to keep mentally and physically active

• Assisting with our swimming activities -spotting around the pool and assisting with resources

• Coffee making and assisting with Coffee Club social catch ups for our customers

• Administration

• Woodwork -assisting our customers with projects in our equipped woodwork space

• Program assistance -preparing resources, tidying, setting up and packing up of activities, assisting support workers

• Reading to our customers or operating the audio book

Volunteers can give as much time as they choose, on a regular, or semi-regular basis. This will be negotiated at the interview.

Options are available every weekday or in the school holidays. Students seeking experience are encouraged to apply.
