Lead Gardener - Reconciliation Garden

St Oswald's Anglican Church

The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this role on behalf of St. Oswald’s Anglican Church.

The Wominjeka Garden, on the plot next to the Church, is a reconciliation garden developed by the church Parishioners and is dedicated to the process of reconciliation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It is recognised as a Cultural Place in Boroondara and is open to the Community every day.

Featuring a variety of native plants it is already being used as a Parish meeting place and in particular as a place in which the Parish and local community can connect and engage with the Aboriginal heritage of the area and the current descendants of the original owners of the land on which it and the Church stands. It is also a place for retreat and reflection.

The ongoing maintenance and development of the Garden will benefit enormously from the skills, experience and enthusiasm of someone with knowledge of and interest in native plants and their development.

St. Oswald’s Anglican Church in Glen Iris is a community-based parish that embraces and cares for people of all ages and has a vision to thrive as a welcoming Christian church community. We have a plan to grow the many community-based activities, which are not of a specifically religious nature, in which we are involved and are looking for the help of like-minded volunteers to give a little of their time and expertise to enable us to achieve this.

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
