The program:

Better Futures supports young people who are making the transition from care to adulthood until they reach the age of 21. The program enables young people to have an active voice in their transition planning and provides individualised supports both in-care and post-care across a range of life areas including housing, health and wellbeing, education, employment, and community and cultural connections.

Your role: As a mentor to young people supported by Better Futures you will provide various types of support that is aimed at creating engagement in the community.

There are many opportunities for our young people to become valued members of our society by contributing positively. These opportunities can range from Education and employment, community connections & health and wellbeing.

However, without the support of someone they can trust and rely on for emotional support, positive reinforcement, encouragement and advocacy, many of these opportunities are missed.

This is where our mentors come in. You will be able to form a connection with a young person and support them in engaging in our community. Through consistent communication and outreach you will be integral in ensuring that our young people positive engage with the opportunities in presented to them.
