Policy Officer ( Volunteer ) – Health & Medical Services

As the Policy Officer – Health & Medical Services, you will: • Participate in and/or coordinate aspects of research, analysis of strategic policy issues and development of strategic advice to the General Manager – Health & Medical Services and other senior officers in the HMS Department. • Participate in and/or coordinate aspects of the preparation of strategic policy documentation (The Board, its associated committees and other submissions, reports, papers, statements, briefings, and correspondence) that inform management and executives on issues that may contribute to decision-making • Participate in and/or coordinate aspects of projects and teams, to successfully formulate innovative and workable policy options and solutions. • Review existing policy and contribute to the development and drafting of new policy recommendations and proposals, including through research, policy analysis and data analysis. • Maintain effective communication and collaboration with internal and external networks and liaison with senior officers and representatives, in a range of government and non-government agencies. • Maintain recent and relevant knowledge of issues and initiatives in volunteering, healthcare, business management and policy and practice occurring at a national, state, and local level. The Policy Officer reports to the General Manager – Health & Medical Services and is also accountable to the Manager – Compliance & Document Control.

Your suitability for this role will be assessed against how you: • Apply sound knowledge of the principles and practices underpinning policy development and implementation strategies designed to meet organisational priorities and achieve departmental goals and objectives within a complex and rapidly evolving environment. • Consult and share information to ensure self and others are kept informed and up to date on relevant departmental policy matters. • Demonstrate high level research and analysis skills, with a proven ability to initiate and report on projects within set timeframes. • Use your well-developed communication and consultation skills to demonstrate your ability to interact with a wide variety of key stakeholders. While there are no mandatory qualifications for this role, practical experience in a similar role is highly advantageous.

Terms • Volunteer role ideally based in Brisbane however, open to remote engagement for the right candidate • Flexible time commitment to support the successful candidate • Commence in Early 2023 Applications close 20th January 2023
