Parks & Wildlife Environmental Volunteers - Friends of Currimundi Lake
Become a 'Friend of Currimundi Lake' and join other volunteers at Currimundi Lake (Kathleen McArthur) Conservation Park. The volunteers meet monthly to assist local QPWS&P Rangers control invasive weeds in this small remnant of wallum heath on the Sunshine Coast.
Tasks typically include manual weed removal and with the occasional opportunity to assist with revegetation, rubbish collection and minor maintenance of the Heath circuit walking track.
Over time we hope the volunteers develop a connection with the area and continue to gain knowledge and appreciation for this section of national park.
As a volunteer, you can expect to:
-
make connections with like-minded people and other local environmental groups
-
learn about the different ecosystems and identify native and invasive species that exist within the park;
-
gain hands-on experience with safe work methods and best practice environmental management techniques.
-
enjoy being active outdoors and feel good about helping the environment.
