The program

The Red Cross Patient Transport Service provides transport for eligible persons to "essential" hospital and/or specialist appointments for people that have no other means of transportation. The service is extremely important and closes a significant gap, particularly for people who are isolated and unable to afford or use mainstream options.

The opportunity

As a volunteer convenor, you will act as the local support and leader of the service, assisting with vehicle maintenance, driver support, program advertisement and collation of monthly reporting materials. It is a wonderful way to get involved and give back to your local community and demonstrate interpersonal and administrative skills.

The impact

As a Volunteer Patient Transport Convenor, you will help improve the quality of life and well-being of people who are elderly, are unwell or have disability, by connecting them with services in their local community.

Red Cross will ensure you have training, ongoing support and access to other opportunities within the world’s largest humanitarian network.
