Vinnies shops Our Vinnies shops are a well-established and much-loved part of the Aussie retail landscape. Aside from being an op-shop mecca for fans of all things quality and thrift, the shops generate revenue for our broad range of services supporting the community. They may also be a first point of contact for people seeking emergency assistance.

As a Volunteer Retail Day Coordinator, , you will play a central role in the operations of the shop, making a significant and valuable contribution to the St Vincent de Paul Society NSW.

The Volunteer Role The Volunteer Retail Day Coordinator assists fellow volunteers and the shop operations for allocated days, and supports the Volunteer Retail Team Leader to achieve the goals of St Vincent de Paul NSW’s Strategic plan.

Responsibility involves a variety of tasks including:

  • Support the team to deliver an exceptional customer experience;

  • Undertake daily financial reconciliations, banking and security of organisational assets in line with Vinnies operation manual, which are under the supervision of the Line Manager;

  • Ensure all sales transactions are processed through the Point of Sale (POS) System and are compliant with the policy and procedures;

  • Coach and train volunteers in all aspects of their roles to ensure they meet organisational requirements; and

  • Work with the team to rotate stock regularly and ensure visual merchandising of all stock is of a high standard, and is priced in accordance with Vinnies pricing model.

The volunteers we are seeking will ideally:

  • Be a people person – welcoming, encouraging and positive;

  • Willing to work within the ethos of the St Vincent de Paul Society and promote public understanding of the work of Vinnies NSW;

  • Able to deliver high levels of customer service;

  • Initiative driven, reliable, punctual and a good time manager, with a can-do attitude;

  • A good communicator, motivator, with solid negotiating and influencing skills;

  • Computer literate and have good numeracy skills; and

  • Fashion retail experienced, with an eye for styling and detail.

We welcome those with previous retail or hospitality backgrounds to share their experience with their fellow volunteers in the shop.
