Men's Group Volunteer, Chermside - Residential Aged Care

Wesley Mission Queensland
Logo for Wesley Mission Queensland

Groups run specifically for men are diverse in structure and function but common in purpose; they are a space for men. A place where men can come together to sit and talk, feel comfortable, socialise, learn new skills and strengthen health and wellbeing enhancing self-esteem and decreasing social isolation. True old fashioned mateship!

As a volunteer with the Men’s shed you will be supporting residents by:

  • Helping residents to regain a sense of purpose in life.
  • Facilitating friendships and companionship.
  • Providing support and guidance with simple tasks.
  • Listening to their stories and discovering residents passions and interests.
  • Having fun!

There are lots of other benefits to volunteering with us as well, such as:

*        Great education opportunities *        Access to online and face-to-face wellness advisors *        Free Flu Vaccinations when required *        Invitations to social events *        Being part of a team that really is making a difference in the lives of people in our local community.

The volunteering hours currently available for the men's group are Monday to Friday between 10am till 12noon. Other hours can be organised if required. All our volunteers follow a COVID-19 safe work plan and provide proof they are up to date with their COVID-19 vaccinations before they are registered in their role. An NDIS Workers Check is also required for this volunteer role.
