MercyCare is seeking compassionate and committed male Companion volunteers to provide social and emotional support to some of our male residents at our dementia care specialist aged care centre in Maddington.

The role requires the volunteer to be a good communicator, develop rapport quickly, enjoy conversations and being around older people. The purpose of the Companion role is to enhance the quality of life for our residents to reduce loneliness and isolation. It is an important role to maintain a residents good mental health to reduce stress and slow cognitive decline.

You must have experience working with people living with dementia and understand the difficulties that they face.
