Fishing Volunteer for Fishing Program - Albany

Fishability Albany

Fishing is one of the most popular recreational activities in Australia. Until recently this activity has been difficult, if not impossible for many people with disabilities. Fishability operates a fishing program, which enables people with disabilities an opportunity to participate in recreational fishing. As a volunteer in this position you will help those with disabilities experience the fun of fishing, by: • Giving practical assistance - setting up fishing gear, baiting and casting a line, and catch care; • Showing an awareness of current rules and regulations regarding recreational fishing; • Developing relationships with participants to enhance their self-esteem, life skills, awareness of the environment and experience a quality outdoor activity; Volunteers are not expected to assist with personal care of participants as support workers accompany all participants. All that is required is a love of the outdoors, a passion to provide an extra level of support to those needing it, and a friendly can-do attitude! Uniforms, training (2-day event annually) and social functions are provided to all volunteers.

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
