Fishing Volunteer for Fishing Program - Albany
Fishability AlbanyFishing is one of the most popular recreational activities in Australia. Until recently this activity has been difficult, if not impossible for many people with disabilities. Fishability operates a fishing program, which enables people with disabilities an opportunity to participate in recreational fishing. As a volunteer in this position you will help those with disabilities experience the fun of fishing, by: • Giving practical assistance - setting up fishing gear, baiting and casting a line, and catch care; • Showing an awareness of current rules and regulations regarding recreational fishing; • Developing relationships with participants to enhance their self-esteem, life skills, awareness of the environment and experience a quality outdoor activity; Volunteers are not expected to assist with personal care of participants as support workers accompany all participants. All that is required is a love of the outdoors, a passion to provide an extra level of support to those needing it, and a friendly can-do attitude! Uniforms, training (2-day event annually) and social functions are provided to all volunteers.
