๐Ÿ‘ต๐Ÿ‘ด๐Ÿ‘ณโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿฆณ Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS) volunteers are friends for older people. This scheme is part of the Federal Government's initiatives to enhance the rights of older people living in residential aged care facilities.

A volunteer visitor is matched to form a friendship with a resident according to their shared interests and cultural backgrounds. Residents, who are identified to be lonely and would benefit from having a special visitor, are located in local Aged Care facilities within The Hills and Parramatta areas.

The visitor receives training before commencing to โ€˜visit' and then ongoing support from the Co-ordinator. The Volunteer Visitor sets aside time once a week to visit or once a fortnight as a minimum requirement. Key responsibilities

Bring your genuine interest and care to providing enriching connection to individual residents as guided and supported by ACVVS Coordinator.

Initiate activities which are appropriate to the resident, such as listening to music together, playing cards or board games or simply having a chat over a cup of coffee.

Qualifications and skills (desired/required)

Desired skills include demonstrated empathy with older people, experience working as part of a team environment is highly regarded.

Background check requirements

Background checks play an important part in our commitment to being a safe organisation. Where an applicant has disclosable history, the selection process includes a fair assessment and a risk management approach. Collection of personal information is handled per our privacy and confidentiality policies.

Below is what is required for this role:

This role requires a police check as part of funding guidelines for Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme.

Some Aged Care facilities will require an additional NDIS Clearance.

Time commitment โ€“

The Volunteer Visitor sets aside time once a week to visit or once a fortnight as a minimum requirement.
