Inpatient roles
The volunteer role in the inpatient wards enhances the patient's experience by providing a companion to those who may not have anyone visiting them. Patients could be staying a long time in the ward or they require additional support during their short stay. The role is not handling patients (no patient handling required), it is essentially hands off talking to patients, walking through the wards to stop at points of interest designed to initiate conversation and positive thoughts, handing out patient activity packs to keep them occupied.
