Refugee Women's "Community Champion" Program Manager
Centre of Advancing WomenOur Community Champions work in different regions across Victoria to act as the first point of contact for vulnerable migrant women requiring COAW's services. They help provide them with necessary food, equipment, social services, and general ongoing support. Your role would be to help oversee our team of Community Champions and support them in their work, as well as collaborating on ideas for the program and how we could improve it.
Key duties:
- Mentoring our community champions and talking through operations
- Overseeing tasks undertaken by community champions and making sure we are on track to meet our goals
- help create community champion goals aligned with COAW values
Skills and experience preferred:
- background in psychology or social sciences
- emotional intelligence
- understanding of social systems
- understanding of systemic racism and patriarchy, and the perceptions and stigma of black and Islamic communities
- Willing to learn and work with women from diverse refugee backgrounds, especially from an East African background
