1. Who is Women of Colour Australia (WoCA)

Women of Colour Australia (WoCA) is a not-for-profit organisation and a registered charity established in August 2020. We are run by women of colour for women of colour. We exist to champion Australia’s women of colour through programs of education, community support initiatives, and advocacy work.

Our Vision: A world where girls and women of colour are afforded equitable opportunities to reach their full potential.

Our Purpose: To advocate, support, and strengthen the lives and experiences of Women of Colour in all places and spaces in Australia.

2. Duties

The Graphic Design Team Lead must:

  • Ensure that the WoCA brand remains relevant
  • Support the Marketing & Communications group to ensure that the brand is consistent, optimal and current on both the website and across all marketing channels
  • Work from internal briefs to generate ideas/concepts to present and implement and produce effective onsite and offsite campaigns in line with WoCA’s objectives
  • Mentor and support the team of Graphic Designers to ensure their skills remain up to date and that they are leveraging the appropriate tools and processes
  • Communicate creative briefs and concepts to the Graphic Design team
  • Set and manage expectations around work allocation
  • Prepare and manage job traffic for the team
  • Manage the quality control of all of the team’s creative outputs in line with brand standards including proofing and reviewing deliverables and project processes
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to the team with a view to aligning them with the Marketing & Communication Group’s goals

3. Attributes

The ideal candidate must have:

  • Ability to represent and communicate art direction with supporting strategy
  • Portfolio of strong designs, graphics and illustrations
  • Strong experience in Adobe Creative Cloud, primarily InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop or Canva
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, a great communicator with time management and multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to define and work on deadlines
  • A keen eye for detail and accuracy
  • Has accountability and ownership
  • Analytical thinking
