1. Who is Women of Colour Australia (WoCA)

Women of Colour Australia (WoCA) is a not-for-profit organisation and a registered charity established in August 2020. We are run by women of colour for women of colour. We exist to champion Australia’s women of colour through programs of education, community support initiatives, and advocacy work.

Our Vision: A world where girls and women of colour are afforded equitable opportunities to reach their full potential.

Our Purpose: To advocate, support, and strengthen the lives and experiences of Women of Colour in all places and spaces in Australia.

2. Duties

Reporting to the Director, Marketing and Communications, the Social Media Lead’s duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing a social media strategy to promote WoCA’s brand, projects and activities, as well as grow the audience across LinkedIn, Facebook (Page and Facebook group), Twitter, and Instagram
  • Reporting data to monitor growth and effective use of social media accounts
  • Creating and managing a volunteer social media team to ensure a consistent and coordinated presence on social media
  • Sourcing and sharing content relevant to audiences
  • Liaising with other teams, particularly events, to promote upcoming activities and key projects
  • Attending regular marketing and communications meetings
  • Managing your workload across multiple projects

3. Attributes

The ideal candidate must have:

  • Previous experience developing a social media strategy and managing a social media team
  • Experience posting across different social media platforms with inclusion of alt text for accessibility
  • Use of social media scheduling tools like Buffer
  • Strong experience with growing a presence on LinkedIn and Facebook are favourable
  • Passion for advocating and supporting Women of Colour
