Community Engagement Worker (Youth)

Team Connect WA
Logo for Team Connect WA

Team Connect works with young women from secondary schools across Perth and engages them into community sport. With the support of the schools, the young women are referred onto programme and are then coached and mentored into playing seasonal cricket at junior club level across Perth. We have had four very successful seasons and are looking for volunteers with some community services knowledge or youth work trainees who are keen to develop their skills with the holistic support we give the team. The cricket coaches are great at what they do - cricket - but youth work is an essential part of the program. We are currently looking for youth workers to support between January and March (if you are looking for placement hours this will cover 200) Gosnells, Thornlie, Yulebrook, Balcatta, Mirrabooka, Wanneroo, Armadale. This position is suitable for both qualified and unqualified workers or those who just wish to work with young people. We would be very keen for you to help develop the program or equally to attend and be fun and supportive. Our sessions are Monday to Thursday 3-4.30pm (usually), and also Saturday morning between 8.30-11.30. You can be involved for one session, or multiple sessions, but continuity is very important to the girls. The program is guided by two qualified youth workers, with teaching backgrounds - so if you are looking for a placement, we will support you with your professional development. (if you want to volunteer with a friend we can also accommodate that).
