Connect And Nurture Volunteer

Connect Child and Family Services
Logo for Connect Child and Family Services

The Connect and Nurture (CAN) program is an in-home support service for women who:

  • have young children aged between 0 and 3.
  • may be geographically or socially isolated from family.
  • only require a soft approach to support.
  • live in the Blue Mountains.

We are looking for people who know what it's like to raise children, the trials and tribulations, and are happy to be that kind-hearted aunty or grandparent figure to support our families.

A CAN volunteer's main role is to form connections with their matched family through weekly, consistent visits for up to a 6 month support period. They do this by providing a non-judgemental listening ear for the mother, and engaging with their child(ren) while the mother is at home. We do not provide a babysitting service.

Note: The commitment of weekly visits may be flexible, and should be discussed with the Program Coordinator.

CAN volunteers are thoughtfully matched with a family with regard to:

  • their values,
  • geographical location,
  • family preferences and any other important considerations to ensure the success of the program.

To be selected in this beautiful program, you will be caring, compassionate, empathetic and able to commit to a family for their support period. In addition, you will need your own transportation and a drivers licence.

All CAN volunteers are formally trained by CAN's Program Coordinator.

Volunteers must provide a Working With Children Check and a Police Check.

We look forward to seeing your application!
