Bring along your good natured pet and spend time chatting with people living in their own homes who may be lonely or socially isolated. You’ll see what a difference your furry friend can make.

As you're bringing your pet into an care environment with frail and elderly residents, we ask that your pet is calm, patient and gentle in nature , up-to-date with vaccinations and treatment of worms and fleas and nails should be short and blunt. Freshly cuts nails can be sharp if not filed down. Dogs should be kept on a lead at all times.

The Community Visitor Scheme (CVS) is a Federal Government initiative established to promote links between elderly people and their local community.

Your impact

Volunteering as a social visitor can be a rewarding experience, both for the person you visit as well as yourself. Regular visits from volunteers can help to improve quality of life and help older people feel less isolated. Your visits will bring great joy to the residents you are matched with.
