Volunteer Administrator

Lost Pets of South Australia

You will need to have excellent written communication skills and be confident using social media applications. You will need a reliable computer, mobile phone and internet connection. Tablets are not suitable.

We provide extensive training before you go solo including how to use our graphics software. Our administration roles involve monitoring our Facebook in-box and page for a shift (usually 3 hours). You will be required to respond to people who contact us about their missing pet, sightings and found animals. You may be asked to provide advice within your scope of training. You may send text messages, cross reference other Facebook posts and make phone calls. You will be in contact with veterinary clinics, councils and animal rescue organisations.

You will liaise with our Search & Assist volunteers to coordinate microchip checks for found and deceased animals. Sadly you will be subjected to photos of deceased animals.

Administrators also monitor and moderate community comments. As an administrator, you will advise each week what shifts you are available for (our page is manned between 9am and 9pm daily). Our rosters are published a week in advance and we will always take into account days/time you are unavailable. Ideally you will be available for at least three hours a week most weeks or more.

In summary, you will not only be an empathetic animal lover, organised and computer literate, you will have a sense of humour and the ability to liaise professionally with people from all walks of life. In return you get to work with a fantastic loyal and friendly volunteer team as well as giving back to the community in a challenging, feel good role.

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
