Volunteer Thrift Shop Online Sales - Heathridge WA

**Key tasks and responsibilities **
Identification of items: Bring your keen sense, experience and knowledge to identify valuable items from the donated items, determining their value through research and comparison sales.
Marketing items: With a promotional and detailed approach, clean and style items for photographing so buyers can clearly view the item and are excited to take part in bidding. Create listing descriptions that are accurate and enticing, along with instructions on how to purchase and collect or have shipped.
Packing orders: This step requires lots of care to ensure items are securely packed and received in good order. A personalised note of thanks adds to the customer’s positive experience, priming them for repeat purchases and good ratings on our online sales channels.
**Qualifications and skills (desired/required) **
Good knowledge of antiques, collectables, designer clothing and other high-value items such as appliances and tools, and how to research these items.
Experience in marketing and communications is highly desired
Experience in using a camera and online sales channels
Excellent writing skills

**Training Requirements **
One of the many ways we care for people is by ensuring our workers are well equipped with the necessary knowledge to complete their role safely.
To successfully undertake this role, the following training is required
Category A training: Foundational training which includes an introduction to The Salvation Army, code of conduct training, work-safe and child-safe practices.

**Work Health and Safety (WHS) considerations **
We take Work Health Safety and well-being seriously at The Salvation Army. We want to ensure volunteers are fully informed and aware of key safety considerations. For this role, key considerations include (but not limited to):
Long periods of standing or walking around the store mean Online Sales Assistants will be required to wear comfortable and supportive shoes and take regular breaks.
Manoeuvring potentially heavy donations will require Online Sales Assistants to be fully briefed on correct manual handling procedures, including use of assistive and personal protective equipment.
As this role requires time researching items, it is important to have the workspace set up ergonomically.
This role requires up to date COVID vaccination
Other WHS considerations will be covered during the induction.
**Development opportunities with this role **
This role will give volunteers an opportunity to continue to build skills and knowledge in antiques, collectables, designer clothing and other high value items, plus customer service, online sale processes and computer skills. More broadly, volunteers in this role will experience the importance of fundraising to support Salvation Army’s community services and the workings of a large not for profit, religious organisation.
