Overview
Leading the Equity & Accessibility Portfolio (formerly the Diversity & Inclusion Portfolio), the Equity & Accessibility (E&A) Director is responsible for ensuring that Out for Australia is delivering on its E&A mission and vision for all members of the LGBTQIA+ community. While all volunteers at Out for Australia have a responsibility to ensure our services are safe, accessible, meaningful and inclusive, the E&A team is key in driving this - through their own efforts & by equipping other volunteers to do the same.
Responsibilities
Leadership of the E&A team & throughout the organisation (25%)
- Chairing monthly meetings with the team.
- Ad hoc check-ins with team members as required.
- Tracking the team’s progress against goals and redirecting the team as required or escalating roadblocks/issues as required.
- Creating and implementing processes to enable the team to achieve its goal.
Recruiting team members.
E&A Consultations (25%)
- Carry out consultations across the various portfolios within the organisation (including Communications, Partnerships, Community, Mentoring, Events & Business teams) on the topics of accessibility, inclusion, equity & volunteer wellbeing
Initiative creation and management (25%)
- Ownership of the organisation’s E&A Strategy
- Initiative creation and management including creation and conceptualisation of initiatives, research, leading implementation and communication of initiatives to the organisation.
Ongoing communication & other activities (15%)
- Participation in National Executive meetings.
- Being an active role model to participate in activities and events in the wider organisation.
- Maintaining ongoing communication with CPO on work within the portfolio.
- Other activities deemed fit to achieve the purpose of ensuring Out for Australia is supporting all members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
General volunteer expectations (10%)
- You will be expected to adhere to general volunteer expectations such as the following:
- Undertake an OFA volunteer induction and role onboarding.
- Understand and implement OFA’s strategy, vision and mission.
- Uphold our volunteer code of conduct.
- Assist with initiatives as required.
