About us

Days for Girls Kits are patented pads designed as a solution to reduce period poverty.

Days for Girls Australia is a registered Australian not for profit and is a Country Affiliate with Days for Girls International. Volunteers across Australia mobilize to increase access to menstrual products and vital health information for women and girls around the world.

Our Chapters and Teams unite to spread awareness, raise funds, sew Days for Girls washable pads, and elevate the efforts of locally run social enterprises.

The Days for Girls Strathfield team is a key part of Days for Girls International’s mission to shatter stigma and limitations associated with menstruation for improved health, education, and livelihoods

Location: Burwood

Days: Monthly, Wednesdays from 10am to 12noon (26 October & 16 November 2022)

About the role

Days for Girls Strathfield is seeking volunteers to attend a monthly Sewing Bee Day on Wednesdays from 10am to 12pm at Burwood Library & Community Hub.

Volunteers will gather to make the packs, it is a hands-on project for those who enjoy fellowship and the opportunity to sew. The Days for Girls Kits provide reusable hygiene products that can be washed and used for up to five years, not only giving these girls independence, but also confidence and extra days of education each month.

The project provides solutions for women and especially school-age girls in impoverished countries where lack of feminine hygiene products limits their ability to go to school and work many days each month

The suitable volunteer will have the following attributes:

  • Sewing experience preferred but not essential
  • Working from home opportunities for experienced sewers if required.
