If you’re interested in connecting with older people who are socially isolated, we’d love to hear from you! We’re looking for Volunteers who are creative thinkers and committed to supporting people live their best lives. Volunteers who can support older people with their goals around staying independent, healthy and connected to their community.
You may be interested in a connection with Peter*, who describes himself as open minded, with a dark sense of humour. His interests include learning about other cultures, languages and religion. Peter enjoys studying at U3A and has a basic understanding of Latin, French and Italian.
Connecting with *Peter may involve visiting him at home, having a chat over the phone, meeting up for a coffee and/or sharing a skill. It might involve checking out what’s on offer at a local neighbourhood centre, library or an activity of interest.
We offer opportunities in skill and knowledge development, as well as ongoing support and mentoring. As a Uniting Volunteer you’ll be able to access our online learning library with over 200 courses on offer. Good communication skills and the ability to work independently are a must. Having a driver’s licence/access to own vehicle is highly desired but not essential We value diversity in lived experience, language, skills and abilities.
