Anglicare Emergency Relief and Food Fair Volunteers

Anglicare provides assistance to vulnerable members of our community through emergency housing, homelessness support and food relief.

Anglicare’s Housing and Crisis Support services are an integral part of our strategy to help people Hope, Heal and Thrive.

The volunteer role supports the delivery of Emergency Relief and Food Fair to our local community through assisting individuals and families who use the pantry, maintaining adequate stock levels and assisting in basic administration and food safety requirements for the service.

• Provide emergency relief and information on other services as required • Collect information from clients to enable reporting to funding bodies • Maintain Pantry stock including collecting/receiving and sorting Pantry donations, shopping for the Pantry and restocking the shelves • Undertake food safety activities such as checking temperatures on fridges/freezers and checking best before and use by dates • Basic administrative duties • Assist with Oz Harvest and Food Bank • Communicate in a non-judgmental and respectful manner • Advise staff of any matter requiring attention such as clients requiring additional assistance beyond the scope of the volunteer role • Maintain a high level of hygiene and safety in the environment and report any incidents/hazards immediately . Most Anglicare volunteers are required to obtain a National Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC). Anglicare will cover any associated costs and will send you the required forms once your initial volunteer application form has been received.
