Tandem Cycle with Blind Lady in Glen Huntly
Blind Sports Victoria Inc.Blind Sports & Recreation Victoria is currently seeking a tandem cycling volunteer to accompany a vision impaired lady on fortnightly rides around her local area of Glen Huntly. This lady has her own bike. You will need to be a strong rider, preferably with tandem cycling experience, and have a strong build to hold the weight of a tandem bike when climbing hills or coming to a stop at traffic lights.
You need to be up-to-date with your Covid-19 vaccinations to apply and enjoy both riding and chatting.
You will be part of the Walking with Willpower program, which aims to increase fitness, well-being and community involvement for adults who are blind or vision impaired.
As a friendly, volunteer walking buddy you need to be more than 18 years of age, with a positive attitude towards people with disabilities.
Recruitment involves an interview, police and referee checks and completion of short training on how to best assist a person who has vision loss whilst out walking.
