About the NDN: The National Desexing Network, funded and run by Animal Welfare League Qld, provides year-round support five days a week to people needing low cost desexing for their cats and dogs. Support includes: • Vets who participate all year round, reducing their prices to help pension-concession card holders. • Council NDN Cooperative Desexing Programs i.e. Councils provide funding to subsidise desexing to prevent unwanted animals and NDN runs the program for councils free of charge. • Referrals to other organisations in other parts of Australia who offer desexing support. • National Desexing Month i.e. vets and organisations participate by offering special desexing prices in July each year. Responsibilities: This is a customer service role and involves the following daily tasks: • Answering phone calls, retrieving voicemails and responding to emails from the general public. • Assisting people on the phone to find their nearest low-cost desexing clinic on the NDN Directory. • Issuing cat and dog desexing vouchers to people in need. Interpersonal and Communication Skills: • Desire to help people in need and be understanding of their circumstances • Calm, respectful, friendly and confident manner • Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team • Ability to cope with a busy working environment Work Skills: • Excellent phone manner • Proficiency with basic computer use including Microsoft Word, Excel spreadsheets and Outlook, Apps, online forms and databases • Team player Time Management/Organisational Skills: • Accuracy and attention to detail • Reliability • Efficiency • Ability to focus, be discreet and maintain confidentiality • Initiative when required Safety Requirements: • Comply with Standard Operating Procedures, Workplace Health and Safety Guidelines • Work in a safe manner without risk to themselves, others or the environment • Comply with all emergency and evacuation procedures, and respond appropriately to safety incidents Experience: • Preferably some experience with customer service or involvement in social service organisations or occupations • Some computer experience to be able to send emails, use Apps, and consult spreadsheets accurately and efficiently • Training will be provided. Knowledge/Understanding/Skills gained: • Knowledge of the National Desexing Network’s work and achievements • An understanding of the need in the community for support with desexing • Customer service experience and computer experience, in a fast-paced work environment
