Tourism Ambassador (Volunteer)

Townsville Enterprise is seeking new volunteer Tourism Ambassadors to work in our Visitor Information Centre and at pop up stands for events and cruise ship welcomes.

You will be the first point of contact for visitors in our centre and help to provide detailed information about the region and the activities they can do whilst here. You will also work closely with the Tourism Officers to sell tours and accommodation to visitors which helps to support our local businesses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting visitors with information about Townsville, the region and neighbouring locations
  • Selling & booking Tours and Accommodation via Bookeasy
  • Brochure management (Displays, Stock and Ordering)
  • Answering phone and email enquiries
  • Preparing information for mail outs
  • Attending Welcome events where required
  • Recording and maintaining visitor statistics
  • Maintaining a clean and welcoming work space
  • Attending familiarisations, product update workshops and training regularly to maintain a good knowledge base of the region

Skills Required:

  • Excellent customer service to exceed visitor expectations
  • Outgoing, friendly personality
  • Well-developed communication skills
  • Ability to communicate with different cultures
  • Committed approach to team work
  • A positive attitude
  • A good general knowledge of the region including local product and operators
  • A desire for continual learning
  • Ability to use a computer or the ability to develop these skills
