Volunteer Handyperson
Project YouthProject Youth are seeking a volunteer with skills in maintenance, cleaning and repair to assist with general upkeep and care of our centres and properties. The volunteer will have knowledge in being a handyperson or in maintenance work. They will be able to consult and determine what tasks can be done by themselves or with Project Youth staff and when to call in external help or professionals.
The Volunteer Handyperson will coordinate with our centre managers and converse with them about potential labour that is required. The volunteer is expected to have the majority of tools and resources that are required for any action needed at the centres or properties. Project Youth will provide additional tools and resources if it is needed, but this will be subject to approval from the Volunteer Coordinator, Operations Manager and/or CEO.
The Volunteer Handyperson will have the following key responsibilities:
- Repairing broken windows, screens, doors, fences, barbecues, picnic tables, shelves, cupboards and other
- items
- Replacing defective items such as light bulbs
- Repairing and painting interior and exterior surfaces such as walls, ceilings and fences
- Clearing rubbish and leaves from driveways and grounds
- Mowing lawns and cultivating gardens
- Adjusting doors and windows
- Replacing tap washers
- Putting up handrails and grab rails
