We are seeking volunteers to assist with following up RSPCA post adoption.

Times commitment This role has flexible working hours from Monday to Friday between 9am to 5.30pm. The equivalent of full-time assistance is required but can be shared by several volunteers.

About the role This role is to support the process of following up on RSPCA animals after they are adopted. Collecting information from new owners after adoption is vital to ensure that owners have any assistance needed to help their animals settle in and to monitor the welfare outcomes for adopted animals and the satisfaction of adopters.

RSPCA NSW is always looking to improve our processes for the benefit of the animals and the community, and this post adoption information is vital to assist us.

What this volunteer role looks like

  • Telephone adopters of RSPCA dogs and cats one week after adoption and then at a later time point to check in on how things are going.

  • With the assistance of a prepared script, offer to ask them a series of questions about their pet’s health and behaviour at the time of the call, at an agreed follow up phone call or by emailing them a link to a questionnaire.

  • Enter any responses into a on-line form

  • Keep records of adopters who have been contacted and completion of questionnaires

  • Follow established processes for referring owners to RSPCA behaviour teams or veterinarians for assistance and advice as appropriate.

  • Although not essential to the role, the ability to undertake analysis and reporting of the data would be of assistance.

  • Comply with all Work Health and Safety (WHS) guidelines

  • Understand and comply with RSPCA NSW policies and procedures

What we need from you

  • Excellent phone manner

  • An interest in interacting with people

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • A minimum of basic to intermediate computer skills

  • Ability to follow procedures for internal referral of customers to RSPCA teams\
