Our volunteers are the heart of what we do. You help us reach more people in more places.

A small contribution can make a big difference in your community, and it’s good for you too. Lending a helping hand helps stay involved in the community, meet new people, develop new skills or keep old ones sharp.

The Volunteer Family Connect Program matches volunteers with our client families to provide support within the home and in the community.  The aim of the program is to empower the family through enhancing social inclusion and developing healthy family relationships.  The program also supports families and carers who have children with additional needs, and/or carers who care for a family member.

Volunteers work in collaboration with the Program Coordinator to meet the needs identified by the family and the carer.

Our volunteers are matched with a family to provide support once a week for 2 hours, over a 6-month period. Visits with the family could be their home environment or supporting them in the community by attending appointments and encouraging social inclusion activities.

Volunteers are provided with full training and are supported through the program coordinator, matching is based on volunteers and family/carers interests, availability, experience and the goals that are identified by the family.

Volunteers require good verbal and non-verbal communication, understanding of privacy and confidentiality, respect, empathy and able to develop supportive relationship with the family.

Schedule: Matching is based on availability of volunteer and their location, this is discussed with the program coordinator

Long term commitment is required.
