Maggie’s Rescue exists to create a world where no animal is in need of rescue. Operating since 2011, we are a co-operative of volunteer foster carers and passionate animal advocates, working together to achieve our shared vision.

Dog coordinators are a vital part of our organisation, exisiting to support our foster carers and assist with the intake and adoption of dogs from start to finish. You would be working within a small and friendly group who's main goal and focus is to better the lives of canines in need.

Key duties include:

  • liasing with foster carers / vet clinics to organise vet work (vaccinations, desexing, etc)
  • supporting foster carers with advice around settling dogs into care and arranging behaviour consults.
  • responding promptly to emails / messages
  • video calls with potential adopters
  • keeping up to date with important paperwork
  • speaking with potential foster carers / adopters to match the right dogs with the right humans.

Skills Needed:

You will need to be confident with dogs of all sizes, breeds and behaviour. You will have excellent administration skills, be highly organised and be diligent at meeting deadlines. You will be liaising by phone, text, email and social media to a wide group of people including the general public, volunteers and other coordinators therefore an excellent telephone manner and a high level of customer service skills are paramount.

You will possess a calm disposition as occasionally you may need to deal with an emergency or a distressed foster carer. You will of course have a support network to lean upon, including the rest of the volunteer coordinator team, the board and the wider volunteer group.

In addition you will need to be:

  • computer literate and able to use multiple platforms including databases, social media and email
  • available at short notice to urgent requests from Foster Carers (such as animal emergencies)
  • have a calm and level headed disposition to make tough decisions
  • possess excellent customer service skills
  • have a strong sense of empathy towards difficult situations without being judgemental
