Foodbank Warehouse Volunteer - Glendenning NSW - # 179664
Foodbank NSW & ACT relies on individual volunteers to help in our distribution centre on a regular basis. Warehouse volunteers work within a diverse team of staff and volunteers to help us distribute food to charities and schools throughout NSW & ACT. Warehouse volunteers generally help on weekdays, and perform a range of essential tasks in the distribution centre.
Key responsibilities:
-
Helping to maintain a clean, safe, and inclusive work environment.
-
Sorting, labelling, and packaging mixed food, grocery items, and fresh produce.
-
Packing charity orders.
-
Packing emergency food packs.
-
Assist in stocking shelves.
-
Other warehousing tasks as required.
No specific experience is required; however, our volunteers do need to:
-
Be at least 15 years of age.
-
Be able to follow verbal and written instructions in English.
-
Be able to perform physical work in the warehouse, including lifting.
-
Wear fully enclosed footwear, comfortable clothing, and bring a jumper/jacket and hat for working in cold environments.
This role is in a fully-functioning warehouse, and safety is our highest priority. All volunteers undergo full WH&S site induction and task training on commencement.
Warehouse volunteers commit to volunteering for set shifts on their agreed day(s) to facilitate working in teams and meeting freight timeframes. One-off exceptions may be considered where they fit with Foodbank’s operational needs.
Volunteering takes place in a COVID safe environment.
Benefits: Volunteers from all backgrounds are welcome. Volunteering in our distribution centre can help develop work-relevant skills, provide the opportunity for social connections, and help maintain physical activity. Warehouse volunteers gain satisfaction knowing they make an important contribution to our fight against hunger.
