This role would suit someone who is a creative, resourceful and skilled writer – happy to roll up their sleeves, create ideas, content and bring it to life. We’re looking for someone who enjoys fostering close relationships with community and media, and who understands what it takes to create interesting content angles to get engagement and work with brand partners to build reach and trust. We want a digital native who understands how to leverage social platforms for reach.

Short Back & Sidewalks is an Australian of The Year Award winning for purpose organisation celebrated for its contribution to the community. We provide haircuts free of charge and free of judgement to members of the community in need.

Our service goes beyond just giving free haircuts; we create meaningful connections through conversations with clients and create visibility for some of the most marginalised community members in Australia.

We are looking for someone who has:

• ­An interest in the wellbeing of members of the community experiencing homelessness and profound challenges in their lives

• Relevant Degree qualifications in marketing, communications, or digital media – or at least 2 years relevant experience in a similar role

• Hands on experience and examples of creating original and inspiring content / campaigns

• A drive to create with new and fresh ideas to engage audiences with the ability to pick social trends and play into them

• Self starter able to act on ideas and proactively find and develop content and brand partnerships that drive results - social following growth, engagement and ultimately building trust for more volunteers and donations

• Expert knowledge of social media channels and strategy

• Excellent copywriting and creating a range of comms touch points (e.g., testimonials, videos, newsletters, EDM, social posts)

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

• Excellent organisational skills with solid administration and reporting expertise
