Support a primary student at school - Sunbury area
At EdConnect Australia we are training and mobilising an army of volunteers, to provide life changing mentoring for students who are at risk of not fulfilling their potential.
At EdConnect we match students who have been identified as benefiting from an adult role model with a mentor. Mentors and mentees meet for one hour each week at school. Fun activities are based on the interests of the student and mentor. Mentors are also supported by a staff member at the school and an EdConnect staff member.
Our volunteers come from many walks of life and age groups. You may be retired or semi retired and looking for a meaningful volunteer opportunity, a tertiary student wanting to gain experience with young people or perhaps working in an organisation that supports volunteering. What our mentors have in common is a genuine desire to help students, be patient, non-judgmental and a good listener.
Many of our current volunteers find this program personally rewarding as they help students thrive. The impact volunteers can make on a young person’s life goes well beyond their school years. This is an opportunity to not only help, shape, and support young people and schools, it may even enrich a volunteer's life as well.
We’ve recruited and trained thousands of volunteers who have helped many more thousands of young people throughout Australia.
Every year, our volunteers provide life-changing – potentially life-saving – support for more than 12,000 young people. We’re talking about academic, emotional and everyday support that provides both a safety net and a springboard for students who might otherwise struggle.
