Walk with Young Blind Refugee in Geelong - Make a difference!

Blind Sports & Recreation Victoria is currently seeking a fit volunteer to accompany a young man who is blind living in Corio on weekly walks in his local area. You need to be accepting of people from different cultures and religions, enjoy walking exercise, and be up-to-date with your Covid-19 vaccinations. Ideally you will speak Dari, but English-speakers are also encouraged to apply.

You will be part of the Walking with Willpower program, which aims to increase fitness, well-being and community involvement for adults who are blind or vision impaired.

As a friendly, volunteer walking buddy you need to be more than 18 years of age, with a positive attitude towards people with disabilities.

Recruitment involves an interview, police and referee checks and completion of short training on how to best assist a person who has vision loss whilst out walking.
