Be part of a team that supports the wellbeing of older people by enhancing their digital literacy skills. Coach seniors to use their iPad and learn about different online communication methods. Engage seniors in communication, to learn their online goals and preferred learning style.
The role would suit someone over the age of 18 who is a good listener, patient, flexible and can commit to at least two hours a week.
Assist clients to engage with family and friends online and to open a whole new world of possibilities. Improve Older Australians’ social connections by providing client-friendly technological support in their home. Share your enthusiasm with seniors to support learning and build their confidence to engage with technology.
Full training will be provided.
Flu vaccine is encouraged.
Ability to make own way to client’s homes is also essential.
Digital coaches have an important impact on the elderly person’s life: enhancing their sense of wellbeing, supporting good physical and mental health, promoting healthy ageing. Seniors may feel more connected to family and friends, whilst being able to access online libraries, podcasts and places or subjects of interests.
You’ll also brighten your own life: gaining satisfaction, enjoyment and personal development through coaching an older person. Red Cross will ensure you have training, ongoing support and access to other opportunities within the World’s largest humanitarian network.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply.
Thank you for considering volunteering at Red Cross. We also have great career opportunities.
