First Aid in Schools Trainer

St John Ambulance Australia SA Ltd.

Logo for St John Ambulance Australia SA Ltd.

We are seeking expressions of interest from individual volunteers, passionate about teaching life-saving skills to South Australian children. We will provide all the training required to deliver the training (no training background required). As the program runs during class time, you will need to be available during school hours (08:30 – 15:00) some weekdays. Commitment can vary, however, 1 day a fortnight is ideal. You can always do more if you’re free and interested.

You will teach school students skills such as:

  • How to call for an ambulance
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (from year 5/6+)
  • Danger assessments and personal safety
  • What to look out for and what to do
  • Managing injuries, bleeding and possible fractures
  • Dealing with an unconscious person
  • How to treat bites and stings
  • Recovery position demonstration and practice
  • What to do when someone is choking

You will need to be able to provide a National Police Check and Working with Children's Check. You may also be asked to complete other checks depending on the schools you visit. All checks are paid for by St John SA.

It is a requirement that all staff and volunteers of St John SA have 2 TGA approved COVID-19 vaccinations and have received a booster when available.

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
