The program
Red Cross has been responding to emergencies and providing humanitarian assistance in Australia since 1914. We are committed to strengthening and extending our emergency aid services to assist all Australians prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies.
Red Cross Emergency Service Incident Management Team (IMT) Members belong to a skilled team of volunteers based on their functions. They are an integral part of emergency operations, supporting the work that takes place in communities during emergencies. During activation, the Red Cross Emergency Services objective is to provide valuable support to individuals and communities during and after emergencies. IMT members work together to meet this objective.
The opportunity
The Information Management (IM) Officer reports to the Planning Officer and provides information management support to the Incident Management Team (IMT). The IM Officer is the key role in and providing information and data to Red Cross and other operational partners as required. The IM Officer ensures that the flow of information is effective and accurate and enables the IMT and other operational partners to plan and make decisions accordingly. The IM Officer also plays an important role in capturing data and information for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
Key responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Reporting on and disseminating information
- Contributing to the development of reports
- Supporting the effective management, sharing and production of timely and relevant information for and between internal and external stakeholders.
- Establishing and maintaining data, contact directories, mailing lists and ensuring data is collected and presented in a consistent and clear way.
Volunteers in this role will possess:
- Knowledge and understanding of the role and functions of Victoria's
- Emergency Management Response and recovery agencies some knowledge of emergency management and AIIMS
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with mapping tools
- Excellent computer literacy including MS products (Teams, Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
