Telephone Support Volunteer

Listening Ear Helpline
Logo for Listening Ear Helpline

Listening Ear is an organisation of trained volunteers who offer support, understanding and a friendly ear. We are not counsellors, but we use our life experience, empathy and listening skills to help people in the community who are upset, worried or lonely and just want someone to talk to. Calls are confidential. We do not judge. We do not ask for personal information. We do not promise to solve problems. It is surprising how nice it is to be heard by someone who is prepared to LISTEN.

All training is provided and fortnightly professional development workshops are held with a mix of Zoom meetings and on site at Lindfield. Calls are taken from your own home. Shifts are once a week for 4 hours. You can chose your own shifts. We are very flexible.

Members of Listening Ear enjoy satisfaction, friendship, personal growth and educational opportunities for self and indirectly for family and friends with their increased knowledge and awareness of community needs.

We were awarded the 2019 Sydney North Volunteer team of the year.

Training courses for new volunteers are held twice a year.

Please see our website or call (02) 9477 6777 if you would like more information.
