The Financial Assistance Program provides a range of resources and supports to community who are experiencing financial hardship.

The role of the Volunteer Drivers is to be responsible for operating vehicles in a manner which ensures the safety of themselves, their passengers (if applicable) and the public. It involves collecting children’s material aid items and small furniture items from our partner organization, Big Group Hug and delivering these items to client’s homes within the City of Whittlesea.

• Obtaining a Working with Children check and Police check • Operating the truck in accordance with the relevant road laws, other applicable legislation and company policies • Responsible for notifying Financial Assistance Program Coordinator of any challenges or incidents that occur in the course of volunteering for WCC (involving truck, suppliers, etc.) • Collecting truck & mobile phone from Whittlesea Food Collective (Epping) • Collecting material aid items from Big Group Hug (Bundoora) as well as obtaining a list of drop-off points • Delivering Big Group Hug material aid items to clients homes • Ability to safely load and unload truck, on and off-site (Some heavy lifting may be required at times) • Returning the truck & mobile phone to Whittlesea Food Collective (Epping) • Respecting and following the organization’s policies and procedures, including completing travel and time sheets and attending relevant meetings • Offering help & support to new drivers to pass on knowledge & skills • Give adequate notice if unable to drive • Assist with other activities associated with our Food Collective Program
