Gardener / lawn mower for museum

Lithgow Small Arms Factory Museum

We are looking for a volunteer (or volunteers) to mow our extensive lawns and maintain and improve our gardens. This position could be split into a number of positions: If you prefer just mowing or gardening, it's entirely up to you. You might like to consider volunteering with a friend. Our visitors use our lawns for relaxation and picnics. Our ultimate goal is to re-open the old Factory Canteen as a food outlet with a lovely lawn and garden area with additional seating for museum and canteen patrons.

With 2 kangaroos and a number of blue-tongued lizards that have taken up residence, we strive to be environmentally friendly. We do not use poisons such as roundup, so some knowledge of, or willingness to learn about ecological control of weeds etc would be an advantage.

You can work your own hours in this position. The museum is currently opened on Tuesdays, Thursdays and weekends from 10am to 4pm, so you can choose to work on any of these days. If you prefer to start earlier than 10am, arrangements can be made for this.

LASFM has a ride-on lawn mower, 2 hand mowers, whipper snipper, petrol mulcher and hand tools. Protective equipment is also provided. You will be working in a relaxed and friendly environment as part of our team of volunteers.

A microwave oven, fridge, air fryer, toaster and toasted sandwich maker are available for use in our volunteer's meal room. We supply tea/coffee and light snacks for volunteers.
