The Ozanam Learning Centre is a community centre based in Woolloomooloo where people can connect, learn, participate in activities and workshops, and access a wide range of supports. Our work aims to provide opportunities for inclusion and support for those who need it.

We offer creative programs such as art and music, health, well-being and recovery programs, personal development and living skills programs.

We are very proud of our art and cultural programs in which community members can learn painting, drawing and pottery and miscellaneous craft activities, as well as, more specifically, Indigenous art and weaving. We wish to engage a volunteer assistant to support the coordinator of our cultural programs and enable more opportunities for community creative development and connection.

As a volunteer, you will help to facilitate First Nations art/craft classes, under the direction of our Activities Coordinator. You will be encouraging participants to develop their skills and explore pathways to further artistic development and education.

You will help establish and maintain a lively, cooperative and inspiring atmosphere in the art room. Part of the role is ensuring efficient and effective use of art room resources and supporting the recycling of used materials as appropriate.

To do this role you will have a passion for and some experience in teaching visual arts. Experience in First Nations art and culture would be an advantage, but not essential. You will have good people skills, including ability to manage conflict, and a warm, friendly personality, patience and compassion.
