Inner West Neighbour AidGARDENING – Garden Aid Volunteer Team
Do you have a green thumb or want to learn and spend time with those that do?
Our trained Horticulturalists and Garden Aid Team Members work with Volunteers to provide minor gardening services to our elderly clients in the Inner West area - (Ashfield Ward Inner West Council, Canada Bay, Strathfield, and Burwood Council areas). Maintaining clients’ private gardens with the goal of making them safe and low maintenance areas allowing clients to stay in their own homes.
All tools and equipment needed for the day and morning tea is provided. This position would suit people with all levels of gardening experience, who are reasonably fit and who enjoy the outdoors. Couples and groups are encouraged to apply.
Role Responsibilities
Assist the Garden Aid Team Member throughout the day as required,
Ensure a safe, courteous and respectful working environment,
Be consistent with availability,
Maintain a high standard of service to clients in accordance with all other relevant policies and procedures,
Garden Aid Duties
General garden maintenance as requested – no power tools,
Pruning,
Weeding,
Laying down newspaper,
Mulching,
Loading and unloading materials used on site,
Collecting and removing green waste from site,
Assisting staff at the Recycling Centre,
Watering (if no restrictions),
Own transport is desired, volunteers must be able to make their own way to and from the gardens, locations will be advised beforehand to make a decision for each commitment.
