Strathdon House and Orchard Precinct - Volunteer Team
We are seeking expressions of interest for the following roles:
Garden Volunteer Will assist the Strathdon Education and Volunteers Officer to: • Plan, set-up and support workshops, classes and educational programs in the educational Kitchen Garden • Plan seasonal and rotational planting • Maintain the educational kitchen garden (ie: soil preparation, planting, pruning, mulching, fertilising, weeding and watering) • Plan and undertake plant propagation • Initiate and maintain seeds for a Strathdon Seed Library • Care and maintain the apple orchard (pruning, harvesting, pest and disease checking/control) • Maintain waste management systems on site (ie: compost, bokashi, worm farm) • Plan and develop ideas for ongoing programs and activities at Strathdon • Participate in working bees
Heritage Volunteer Will assist the Strathdon Education and Volunteers Officer & Precinct Coordinator by: • Considering and caring for the Strathdon House and Orchard Precinct Collection • Undertaking ongoing research surrounding items in the Collection • Writing and proofreading text for ongoing rotational display of collection items in Strathdon House • Working with the Precinct Coordinator to change over and update internal displays within the house • Working with the Precinct Coordinator to identify themes and group collection items for public displays • Working with the Precinct Coordinator to prioritise areas of research of the collection
Front of House Volunteer
• Welcome visitors to Strathdon House and Orchard Precinct • Provide visitors with information, answering questions and providing tours as required • Provide assistance with administrative tasks such as data entry and letterbox drops • Assist with Strathdon House events, during and outside normal business hours • Assist Council Officers with maintaining public notice board
