Experiencing Marine Sanctuaries’ (EMS) is an incorporated, not-for-profit, non-government organisation. The program is based on (with permission) the highly successful New Zealand program ‘Experiencing Marine Reserves’, and was established in 2015 by a core group of enthusiastic marine biologists and educators from South Australia.

EMS’ snorkelling programs are a flexible and exciting way to encourage members of the community to explore and appreciate South Australia’s marine environment.

EMS Objectives: Participants experience the marine environment firsthand Build water safety & confidence in the marine environment Encourage snorkelling as a recreational and fun activity Foster caring attitudes and passion for marine conservation Facilitate emotional connection with the marine environment Make people fall in love with marine parks and the fauna and flora that inhabit them so that they become advocates for their protection.

“In the end, we will conserve only what we love, we will love only what we understand, and we will understand only what we are taught” Baba Dioum, Senegalese Conservationist.
