Job description: Our Retail Sorters are essential to the running of our shop, ensuring a seamless flow of high-quality items for sale in-store, as well as providing donations to various charities.

Tasks:

  • Sort and price donations and place in a suitable spot in the shop
  • Check each is suitable for sale in the store
  • Ensure items are clean and in good condition
  • Decide which items should be sold, passed on, or donated overseas
  • Store seasonal items in the correct locations until the right time of year
  • Hang clothes, checking each item for tears or stains and ensuring that zippers, buttons, and pockets are all in working condition
  • Wash donations when necessary
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean and tidy store including the sorting and kitchen areas

Qualifications:

  • A good eye for detail. Ability to distinguish between a diamond and a diamante, know your crockery from porcelain, and recognise leather from plastic
  • Skilled at distinguishing items that are in good condition from items that are not
  • Attention to detail
  • Fit to move boxes and bags of donations and to do light physical work
  • Reliability for scheduled shifts
  • Experienced working independently and as part of a team
  • Happy to accept supervision and direction
  • A sound knowledge of retail brands is essential
