Do you want to work with wildlife? Do you have a genuine interest in helping our native animals & would like to make a difference?

Express Wildlife Rescue is a small not-for-profit charity wildlife organisation based in Henley Brook, WA. We rescue & rehabilitate injured and sick wildlife, with the aim whenever possible, to release them back into their natural habitat. We specialise in looking after kangaroos, possums, wild birds and reptiles. We give them 24/7 care, including veterinary assistance when required. We also provide a mobile wildlife rescue service and attend emergency call-outs to help sick, distressed or injured animals.

We are looking for dedicated and reliable wildlife care volunteers. Wildlife rescue is only possible with the ongoing assistance of caring and committed volunteers on-site at our animal care shelter. If you have a genuine interest in helping our native animals and not afraid to get your hands dirty at times, come and volunteer with us. You do not need to have previous experience working with animals. On the job training will be provided.

You will be assisting in the care of our animals, preparing their food and feeding them, washing bedding and cleaning their enclosures and general facilities. There may also be some gardening and basic maintenance tasks. Limited animal handling helps animals in care recover more quickly and suffer less stress. However, there is “hands on” opportunity involved with the bottle/hand feeding of the various babies, including regular four hourly feeds. The work can often be quite demanding, but so rewarding. It is a great experience, as well as knowing you’re really making a difference.

Ideally, volunteers will commit to a regular shift (3 to 4 four hours) each week. However, if you can only spare a few hours at any time - Monday to Sunday from 6am to 10pm to help with the 4 hourly feeds and general running of Express Wildlife Rescue, that is ok too. We really need your assistance to keep up with the current demands to help our precious animals.

If you would like to arrange a time to volunteer with us, please call Andrea on 0417 926 130.

If you are a back-packer or someone who can commit a dedicated block of time (usually a stay of a week or more) to help save our Australian wildlife, there is also on-site accommodation available, including 3 meals per day. As the shelter receives no funding and relies solely on donations, we ask for a contribution towards your stay. Please discuss further with Andrea.

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
