STAR Community Services, a not-for-profit community organisation, has been supporting our communities for over 25 years. STAR provides a range of NDIS and Aged Care services across SE Queensland.

This includes safe, affordable and reliable transport for community members who are over 65, and for people who have a disability.

STAR is recruiting Volunteer Owner Drivers in Redlands, South Brisbane suburbs, Logan, Beenleigh, Northern Gold Coast, and Ipswich.

Volunteer Owner Drivers help STAR to provide personalised transportation services which assists our elderly and people with disability to attend medical and social appointments, and ensures they are able to remain active in the community.

Can you help? The hours are flexible. Volunteer Owner Drivers can volunteer for a few hours a day/s per week or for as many hours as you like. You can start early in the morning (from 6am) or later in the afternoon! We can offer hours that suit your lifestyle.

This is a Centrelink approved activity.

It is important to STAR that the Volunteer Owner Drivers provide the highest level of safety and service to our clients. Training will be provided to all drivers.

STAR offers the standard ATO rate of .78 cents per km for vehicle usage (this is non-taxable).

Volunteer Owner Drivers must have a vehicle that is easily accessible for people with mobility issues. The vehicle needs to be less than 10 years old and must be fully insured and be kept clean and tidy while transporting clients.

STAR's Volunteer Owner Drivers must:

  • be a safe and confident driver
  • have a warm and friendly personality
  • be able to use a smart tablet for navigational purposes
  • comply with all relevant organisational policies and procedures AND provisions of the Transport Operations (Road Use Management) Act 1995 of Queensland.
  • have a 0.00% blood alcohol level while operating the vehicle.
  • ensure their vehicle is serviced regularly
