Volunteer Board Director

LEAD Loddon Murray

As an Independent Community Board Member, you will:

• Be appointed for four years

• Undertake a time commitment of approximately 8 hours per month (including Board meeting reparation and attendance, subcommittee involvement and meetings)

• Contribute to the governance of LEAD Loddon Murray and actively promote its interests in the broader community in accordance with its Governance and Code of Conduct Policy, Strategic Plan and Business Plan.

• Assist in setting the strategic direction for LEAD Loddon Murray, developing robust policies to support the strategic direction, ensuring full compliance with legislative requirements, monitoring effectiveness of LEAD Loddon Murray programs and providing accountability mechanisms.

• Be available in person for Board meetings which are held every two months. Board members are expected to attend all of these meetings where possible.

• Be encouraged to attend key LEAD Loddon Murray events such as the Opening Ceremony for the Loddon Murray Community Leadership Program (LMCLP), Annual General Meeting and graduation evenings for the various programs conducted by LEAD Loddon Murray.

• Positively advocate for LEAD Loddon Murray and its community leadership programs at all times.

Who and what skills are required?

• Independent Community Board Members must not be a graduate of a LEAD Loddon Murray program.

• Preferably, board members will live in the Loddon Murray region of Victoria or have strong demonstrated links to the area.

• Excellent general communication skills, and ability to work online.

• Knowledge and skills in one or more areas of Board governance (strategy, policy, programs, communications, information technology, legal, business acumen, finance, personnel).

• High level of personal and professional integrity and honesty.

• A willingness to invest in developing his/her own personal and professional development
