CASS & Burwood Council have jointly organised this FREE program to provide new migrants the chance to practise their spoken English with local volunteers. This can help new migrants improve their oral English.
Location: Burwood NSW
Days: Wednesday mornings, 10am to 12pm
About the role
The Speakers Corner Program is seeking Volunteers for their Speakers Corner Program, volunteers are to engage members of the Chinese community in English Conversation on a range of topics to help them to enhance or practice their English skills in a socially informal environment.

The class will provide an informal opportunity to get people talking to practice their English and meet new people in a relaxed and fun atmosphere.
Anyone can support us as an English Conversation Volunteer, even if your first language is not English, and teaching experience is not necessary.
You will need:
- Good Communication and English speaking skills, be able to discuss a range of topics confidently and show an aptitude/willingness to listen as well as speak and to have an interest in other cultures
- A desire to help others learn
- Be able to engage students who may have minimal English speaking skills.
- Be reliable and able to commit to at least 6 months.
- Show reliability and punctuality
